Skin Care While on Epiduo

If you are on, about to be on, or are thinking of going on Epiduo, a topical, medical grade acne treatment, this is a great skin care regime to go on as well!

S T E P  O N E :  CLEANSE

Cerave Hydrating Gentle Cleanser- I recommend a gentle, non-exfoliating cleanser. You do not want your cleanser, or any other product you put on your face, to have additional acne treatment. Cerave is great because it removes makeup as well as treats the skin. I used to use Cetaphil, but that is not cruelty free, so I've switched.

SonicDerm Brush- You are going to want to exfoliate a few times a week due to the amount of dry skin you will have. I love this brush, it really cleanses the skin, leaves it smooth, and is a fraction of the cost of a Clarisonic. Bonus- the head vibrates rather than spins. A spinning head can cause micro-tears in the skin, leaving you with larger pores and redder skin over time.

S T E P  T W O : MOISTURIZE

Mario Badescu Glycolic Eye Cream- This stuff is a MUST, especially when on Epiduo. Epiduo, and most other medical grade acne treatments, dry your skin out, and when I say dry, I mean like alligator scales, flakey, PAINFUL, skin. I found that around my eyes became very dry and flakey (even though I did not apply it any where near my eyes), making it impossible to wear under eye makeup. This eye cream really saved my under eye area.

Cerave Moisturizing Lotion- A good moisturizer is key. This one is great because it is gentle and does not make your face look greasy or affect the wear of your makeup. I would also recommend a thicker cream for nighttime to provide more intense care. I'm still on the prowl for a cruelty free intense moisturizer. Let me know your favorites.

S T E P  T H R E E: SET MAKEUP

Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray- This is a personal favorite for pre & post makeup application. It hydrates the skin and smells good too. After your makeup is all on, spray it 6 inches away from your face, wait for it to dry, and you have more hydrated, natural looking makeup. It can be hard to get your makeup to sink into your skin when on acne medication because your skin texture is way off. A hydrating spray is essential. (You can buy this at stores such as Ulta, Urban Outfitters, Nordstrom... I used amazon as the link to be accessible for everyone).

As for a makeup routine, here is my foundation routine while using Epiduo:
*please note the makeup routine in this video is NOT cruelty free, it was before I started phasing out products tested on animals.

finally... water! Drinking a lot, I mean A LOT of water will help moisturize and improve your skin from the inside out.
